J,
I and D. J, I and D is styled as a 6th century compound letter contraction. It comprises of the interl-inked zoomorphic letters J and D in the form of a serpent and a bird, both of which are intertwined around a knotwork letter I, the colouring being a mixture of traditional decoration and argyll pattern. This work was the first of a co-ordinated pair commissioned by Mr. Ian Dakin of Warrington, England.

L and D. J,
L and D, the second commission of Mr Dakin, also styled as a 6th
century compound letter
contraction. In this instance the inter-linked zoomorphic letters J and
D are in the form of a human figure and an animal, again both letters
are intertwined with a knotwork letter, this time an L. The zoomorphic
animal being decorated in an argyll pattern while the human figure is
more traditionally coloured, though he is attired in a rather fetching
pair of tartan troos.
